I’m in love with drinking Matcha tea lately.  For various reasons, I have decided to give up coffee for a while. I have always loved great coffee, still love it, and will likely always love it.  But I think I may love Matcha green tea even more.

It’s no secret that green tea is one of the most valued and widely consumed drinks in the world. Matcha is antiviral, anti-inflammatory and high in antioxidants.  Matcha Green tea has hundreds of more nutrients than most green teas and a high antioxidant content that even surpasses the highly regarded blueberry.

Matcha comes in powdered form, so you may have sticker shock when you look at the price – I did!  You only use 1/4 tsp to 1 tsp per cup of tea so keep in mind it goes a long way.  It also has a strong, deep green tea flavor so you may want to start out with 1/4 tsp and let your taste buds adjust.  Because it is in powdered form, it makes it easy to add to your smoothie, pancakes, soups, popsicles salads etc.  Don’t go overboard, though, as it is higher in caffeine than most teas.  One teaspoon has about the same caffeine amount as a half cup of coffee.  I think of this tea as a medicinal tea where coffee is one of my guilty pleasures along with chocolate!
