I decided that the best gift that I can give myself is to make these chocolate protein balls to satisfy my sweet tooth instead of being tempted with whatever my husband brings home next.

These are great for most people as they are gluten free, nut free, dairy free and sugar free – and yes they still taste so good!  Really!

They are packed with protein, fiber and fat which makes them a great blood sugar stabilizing combo. The raw cacao and chia seeds brings this dessert into superfood status with a great dose of iron and omega 3 fatty acids.  Dates are high in sugar, so practice moderation by eating 1-2 balls for a healthy snack or after dinner as a healthy sweet tooth option.

So, Goodbye Gigi Cupcakes – I no longer need you!

Enjoy!

This is also on the menu for my Clean Eating Jumpstart Program!  I love this program because you can have dessert and not feel deprived!  My program is not your typical detox as in we do not limit calories or just drink juices all day long.  We simply eliminate foods that don’t serve us like sugar and processed foods.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup packed pitted Medjool dates (12-13 large)
  • 1/4 cup hulled hemp seed
  • 1/4 cup chia seed
  • 1/4 cup sesame seed
  • 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon fine grain sea salt, or to taste
  • 1/4 cup raw cacao nibs (or mini dark chocolate chips

Directions:

Place all ingredients in a food processor and process until blended.  Add a small amount of water (1tsp) at a time if needed.  Form into 16 balls.  I like to keep mine in the freezer!
